UNIT-I: Foundations of Movements and Aerobic Fitness

  1. Movement Concept : Body awareness, movement of the body and its parts, other aspect of body awarness, spatial awarness (Space, Direction, Level, Pathways, Quality of Movement Time, Force, Flow, Body Shape); relationship with objects and relationship with people.
  2. Music: Composition, selection of a suitable music; Types of music to be played; Preparation of own piece of music; Music and relaxation.
  3. Fitness Aerobics: Meaning and Concept of Fitness & Aerobic; Types of fitness; Components of Physical fitness. Components of aerobic exercise programme (Frequency, Intensity, Time);Safety measure to be adopted; Significance of aerobic exercises in fitness regime.

UNIT-II: Exercise Prescription and Weight Control

  1. Warm up and cool down.
  2. Body weight control: obesity, energy, balance and weight control.
  3. Meaning of weight control and its significance.
  4. Exercise prescription, quantity and quality of the exercise programme.

UNIT III: Foundations of Fitness Science

  1. Concept of Anatomy, physiology and exercise physiology.
  2. Effect of aerobic exercise on heart.
  3. Effect of aerobic exercise on Lungs.
  4. Effect of aerobic exercise on endocrine gland.
  5. Eccentric, concentric and static muscle contraction.

UNIT IV: First Aid and Safety Management

  1. First aid and Safety – meaning.
  2. ABCXH of first aid.
  3. Recovery position, CPR.
  4. First aid for common minor emergency.

UNIT-V: Nutrition and Exercise

  1. Diet Prescription.
  2. Nutritional value and requirement of food in relation to exercise.
  3. Malnutrition and Obesity causes, effect, prevention and treatment.
  4. Harmful effects of nutritional ergogenic aids.

UNITVI: Management of Aerobic Fitness Facility

  1. Customer Care: Public Relation; Phone Handling; Guest Satisfaction; Language, Etiquettes; Maintenance of records.
  2. Classroom Management: Preparation for the class; Grouping of participant; Time schedule; Planning cooling down exercises.
Note: The course is distributed in 30:70 ratio, of which 30% will be theory and 70% wil be practical classes in the form of Workshop. Hence, approach of our teaching and training will be to conceive a basic theoretical understanding blended with strong practical foundations for future implementation.
